Kamran Khan

Co-Founder, President & CEO

Kamran has been developing, supporting, selling and managing in the computer software / services industry for 25 years.  For most of that time he’s been focused on search engine technology. Kamran was Senior VP of Worldwide Sales at Excalibur Technologies during its 1990s heydays, building a $50 million international software licensing business with RetrievalWare.  A native of Manchester, UK, but now a naturalised US citizen, Kamran provides the company with straight-talking, pragmatic leadership.  Kamran graduated from the University of Manchester with an honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering. 

John Steinhauer

Vice President, Engineering & Co-Founder

John manages all technical and customer delivery operations at Search Technologies. Known for his hands-on style and attention to detail, John is one of the most experienced project directors in the enterprise search space, having been the driving force behind hundreds of sophisticated search and analytics implementations.  During more than a decade in enterprise search, John has also managed major software development initiatives.  John earned an MBA and a Masters in International Relations from Boston University as well as a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago. 

Paul Nelson

Vice President & Chief Architect

Paul was an early pioneer in the field of text retrieval and has worked on search engines for over 25 years. He was the architect and inventor of RetrievalWare, a ground-breaking natural-language based statistical text search engine which he started in 1989 and grew to $50 million in annual sales worldwide. RetrievalWare is now owned by Microsoft Corporation. During his many years in the industry, Paul has been involved in hundreds of text search installations of all shapes and sizes. This includes enterprise search for dozens of fortune 500 corporations as well as large government installations for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and the Government Publishing Office (GPO). Paul is the Chief Architect at Search Technologies where he provides architectural oversight for clients’ projects and conducts design, technology research and training.  

Dennis Tran

Vice President & Co-Founder

Dennis has been successfully selling computer software and services for 30 years, with more than half of that time in enterprise search.  A veteran of numerous $million+ projects, Dennis takes pride in building lasting relationships with customers and partners.  Driven by a focus on the customer business objectives, Dennis has developed mutually beneficial relationships around search technology with a number of Fortune 500 companies.  Dennis earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from California State University (Long Beach) and studied mathematics, engineering and business administration at Pepperdine.  

Patricia Booth

Director of Finance

Pat BoothPat is a CPA with over 20 years of accounting experience across multiple industries.  As Director of Finance, Pat is responsible for managing the company’s accounting and finance functions.  She began her career as an auditor for Price Waterhouse in NYC and subsequently worked in industry for both private and publicly-held companies.  Pat has held key Finance positions with companies like SunGard and Environ and she has run her own business as an agent/owner in the insurance industry.  Pat graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Accounting from St. Joseph’s University.    

Jan Seaton

Director of Human Resources

Jan SeatonJan is the Director of HR or the equivalent of the “Chief People Officer” for Search Technologies.  As one of the company’s first employees, Jan has been instrumental in growing the company over the past 10 years and developing a culture that has resulted in an impressive employee retention rate.  Prior to joining Search Technologies, Jan was a successful entrepreneur in the recruiting industry and was recognised by the Washington Business Journal.  Jan is a proud graduate of Radford University in Virginia.                                                     

John Back

Vice President Sales, North America

John has a broad range of enterprise sales experience dating back to the 1980s when delivered multi-million dollar integrated systems to government and commercial users. For the last 15 years John has been engaged with the enterprise search industry, first as Vice President of North American Sales at Convera, Vice President of Federal Sales at QKnow and at Fast Search & Transfer.  At Search Technologies, John directs the expansion of the company’s consulting business across North America. John is a graduate of Rutgers University and holds BA degrees in Computer Science and Economics.   

Graham Charlesworth

Vice President Sales, Europe

Graham has been in the software industry since 1984. Graduating with an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, he worked in the CAD/CAM world fulfilling pre-sales and sales roles.  His customers included some of the UK’s largest companies in the aerospace industry. Graham became involved with enterprise search in 1995 after joining Excalibur Technologies. In 2006 he became Senior VP for Worldwide Sales at Convera.  Graham has 20 years search engine industry experience, an excellent reputation among his clients, and a strategic knowledge of the enterprise search space.  

Graham Gillen

Vice President Marketing

Graham is an experienced marketing executive with a pragmatic perspective gained from over 20 years successfully implementing and marketing technology products and services for companies like VeriSign, webMethods, Netuitive and Honeywell. Graham has a BS in Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MS in Operations Research from Georgia Tech. He is Pragmatic Marketing Certified and has a Certificate in Marketing Management from UVA’s Darden School of Business.
