London Seminar: Diving into Data - Video Highlights
In March, we held a half-day seminar titled "Diving into Data" at the prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The seminar took the attendees on a journey into the Data Lake and Big Data Text Mining techniques for uncovering enterprise insight. Nearly 60 people joined us from companies like Elsevier, ARM, John Lewis, HSBC, Capgemini, What’s About Town, among others.
Our audience heard from our Chief Architect, Paul Nelson, as well as Chris Brown, VP International, and Declan Trezise, Senior Customer Engineer, from our partner Basis Technology.
Paul gave a deep dive into searching the data lake with Cloudera Search and Morphlines. He then gave a very interesting demo showing how you can search for tweets in real time. Paul also presented text mining with Spark which was very well received by our captive audience. Basis Technology's presentation and demo focused on the importance of identity resolution, giving real life experiences of how they use text mining to help authorities to tackle terrorism by picking up on simple text errors.
Some feedback from our Lord's Cricket Ground seminar attendees:
“It was great, would love to know more and how we may apply this to our recruitment company”
“Great demos of the tools being shown and the topics discussed”
“Many thanks for sharing your valuable knowledge”

It was great to see Search Technologies’ London seminars grow into a community of like-minded individuals who get together to network and share their best practices with each other. During this seminar, we were pleased to present Peter Dignan, Head of Architecture at Haymarket Media Group, with an award for his contribution towards Search Technologies' exclusive Ambassador Club. Peter was our first Ambassador and has been actively participating in the community.
The seminar ended with a three-course lunch and a tour around the Lord’s Cricket Ground. We like to make our seminars both informative and enjoyable. If you are interested in the next Search Technologies’ seminar, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
